Yahweh Yoga Teaching Academy Earns Distinction as First Christian Yoga Institution Worldwide to Receive State License as Private, Post-Secondary Education College
Yahweh Yoga Christian Yoga Teaching Academy announced it has been named a licensed, private, post-secondary education college by the Arizona State Board for Private Postsecondary Education. The licensure complements the organization’s existing status as a registered Yoga Alliance institution and makes it the first Christian Yoga Teaching Academy worldwide to achieve status as a private, post-secondary education college.
“Becoming an accredited vocational college recognizes the legitimacy of Christian Yoga,” explains Deanna Smothers, co-owner of Yahweh Yoga. “The beauty of yoga is that it can be used in any context. While it can incorporate religious beliefs, yoga never has been based on theology. It’s a methodology that has been used for centuries as a component of wellness. We have integrated our yoga practice and instruction with our Christian faith. Accreditation from the state of Arizona legitimizes our methodology, as we’ve demonstrated that we’re committed to excellence in all aspects of our teaching academy.”
Yahweh Yoga Christian Yoga Teaching Academy trains instructors in the practice of Christian Yoga, integrating traditional, holistic yoga practice and Biblical teaching. Graduates complete the 250-hour requirement to become Registered Yoga Teachers (RYT), as certified by the Yoga Alliance.
