Our Programs

Our graduates say it best:

Our Training Programs

At Yahweh Yoga Teaching Academy we serve our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and His people by providing licensed yoga instruction and healthy-eating lifestyle programs. Our training is firmly grounded in God’s Word and flows from our belief that God cares about the whole person: mind, body, and spirit.

Making Accredited Yoga Education More Accessible

Because you’re reading our “Training Programs” page, it probably means that you’re curious about what we offer and that you may be interested in becoming a yoga teacher. We’d love to sit and chat with you face-to-face, but since that’s not possible at the moment, we welcome this opportunity to share.

At Yahweh Yoga Training Academy we care about each student’s success. We equip you with the tools you need to begin your teaching career immediately upon graduation and then commit to supporting and encouraging you afterwards. Since opening in 2005, Yahweh Yoga’s skilled and nurturing team of professionals has helped hundreds reach their goal of becoming accredited Christian yoga teachers. Our graduates now work throughout the country. You can join the ranks of these dedicated yoga instructors, too.

Perhaps you’re wondering what distinguishes Yahweh Yoga Training Academy from other yoga schools. Through our online and hands-on programs we offer:

  • A Christian Yoga Studio and Teaching Academy (with training and tools based on the Word of God.)
  • Highly-educated faculty with real-world experience.
  • Flexible programs that fit your life season and schedule.
  • Accreditation. We’re proud to be a Licensed Private Post Secondary Education Institution and a Registered Yoga School with Yoga Alliance. Click here for Credentials

Explaining How This Works for You

For your convenience, the YY Teacher Training courses build upon one another. For example: Perhaps your ultimate goal is to achieve YYT/RYT status, but you prefer beginning to teach through our Online Only Program. You then have the option of transferring all your hours and tuition towards the next level of teacher training accreditation, as long as you do so within one year of graduation from the Online Only Program.

In addition, we offer interchangeable training dates. For example: If you decide you want to take Warrior 1, you may select any posted Warrior 1 date. And you may take the Arizona learning experience first and the online portion second, or vice versa.

Imagining Your New Career as a Yoga Instructor

Studies show that more than 50 million people in the United States now practice yoga daily.* In addition, Christian yoga is flourishing. The numbers continue to grow each year due to:

  • Participants’ satisfaction with the benefits of regular yoga practice and
  • Physicians recommending yoga to their patients in record numbers and
  • Scientific and medical evidence supporting the practice of yoga for a plethora of mind, body and soul health benefits.

Consequently, yoga instruction is becoming one of the leading second-career choices in the country. Since yoga practice promotes peace, health and vitality, people are leaving lucrative, but high-stress jobs in order to start a career as a Christian yoga teacher—doing what they love. Many wish to minister to others, while earning a living. Although some people discover that their earnings aren’t as high as their former corporate positions provided, many graduates report experiencing better quality of life, being happier and more fulfilled.

“I’ve deepened my intimacy with God as a result of practicing Christian yoga. I believe I’ve become a more calm, gentle and compassionate person.” (Robyn Hurst, Yahweh Yoga trained yoga teacher from Branson, MO)

Answering Your Questions

1. Is accreditation necessary? Our experience shows us that the school you choose needs to be accredited in order for you to maximize your career and ministry opportunities. For the safety of their customers and yoga students, many potential employers will ask for your credentials including the name of the school from which you graduated. In fact, in recent years, so many groups that were not licensed or accredited started offering yoga teacher training that forty state governments concluded that there was the need to pass a law requiring anyone accrediting yoga teachers to be a Licensed Private Post Secondary Education (PPSE) institution.

2. What is Private Post Secondary Licensing? As stated on their website (www.ppse.az.gov) the mission of Private Post Secondary licensing is:

  • To ensure legal operations, ethical practices and quality education in the private post-secondary sector.
  • To ensure public access to reliable and valuable alternative higher educational opportunities and vocational training options.
  • To assist those injured by private post-secondary educational institutions.
  • To collect or secure monies sufficient to provide for student financial restitution.
  • To provide equitable financial restitution, in a timely manner, to students financially injured as a result of a school closure.
  • To protect the health, safety and welfare of citizens by regulating private post-secondary educational institutions and providing services to their students.

3. Who is Yoga Alliance and why is it important to be a Registered Yoga School with them? According to their website, “Yoga Alliance® is the national education and support organization for yoga in the United States. They work in the public interest to ensure that there is a thorough understanding of the benefits of yoga, that the teachers of yoga value its history and that the public can be confident of the quality and consistency of instruction.”
Universally recognized as the world’s authority for setting standards and ethics for yoga school curriculums, yoga teacher trainings and yoga instructors, Yoga Alliance sets high curriculum requirements which include 180-hours hands-on with ERYTs and RYTs before any individual can earn status as a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) with them. In order for students to earn their RYT, they must attend a Registered Yoga School (RYS) that has been approved by Yoga Alliance. Yahweh Yoga has been a registered yoga school with Yoga Alliance since 2005. We love and appreciate them and their work!

4. How does Yoga Alliance Support You—and Christian Yoga? We have a multi-faceted response for this question, so we’ve decided to bullet-point them for easier reading:

  • As a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) through Yahweh Yoga you gain instant respect and credibility with other professionals throughout the yoga industry. These professionals are your potential employers. The Yoga Alliance RYT designation denotes excellence in meeting high educational training standards. It gives you an edge with perspective employment opportunities.
  • Yoga Alliance supports all yoga. Their motto is “Diversity. Integrity. Community.” It’s a pleasure working with them. They’re genuinely supportive of the Christian yoga movement. In fact, Yoga Alliance has chosen to list Yahweh Yoga as a specific and separate style of yoga on their website: i.e. Ashtanga, Bikram, Anusara and Yahweh Yoga.
  • You may have heard that Yoga Alliance requires students to say Hindu Prayers and doesn’t allow Christian yoga schools to use Bibles. This simply is not the case. Yoga Alliance welcomes all faiths and allows us to use the Bible in our curriculum wherever we see fit. If you have any questions about this, please contact Yoga Alliance personally at 1.888.921.YOGA (9642).
  • In our training, we do teach a section called “History of Yoga” which is not only an interesting study, but it is useful in understanding today’s yoga industry. By studying yoga’s history, you will be assured that yoga is a “methodology” and not a “theology.” People of any religion or faith tradition, as well as those with no religion, are welcome to practice yoga. Many diverse religions use methods (or disciplines) such as prayer, fasting, study, or solitude in living out their specific faith theology. Yoga is merely one such method. And the method/discipline of Christian yoga is based entirely on the praise-worthy work of the Triune God as revealed in the Holy Bible.

5. I don’t plan to make a career of teaching yoga classes, but I do want to take the training—is that okay? Yes. Although, some individuals take our programs primarily to transform their own mind, body and spiritual health, upon graduation they are able to teach if they so choose.
Your decision to teach yoga requires your firm commitment to follow-through with intentional action on your part. God calls us all to become the best version of ourselves according to His will and plan for us. If you believe He is calling you to take the next step in His plan for your life by studying with us, we are here for you.

We’ve noticed that common roadblocks that future teachers face include misconceptions such as:

  • “My yoga practice is just not good enough.”
  • “I’m not thin enough.”
  • “I’m not fit enough.”
  • “I’m too old.”

You can toss out these excuses, because our graduates come from all age brackets (18-72) and fitness levels. Becoming a gifted teacher doesn’t rely solely on the perfect execution of the postures. Now isn’t that a relief?! There are numerous kinds of yoga classes that you can teach including:

  • Rest and Restore
  • Meditation
  • Gentle
  • Flow
  • Power
  • Hot Yoga.

The truth is: There is something for everyone. Something for you.

6. But there are already so many yoga teachers. Are you sure there’s room for one more? Every day we receive emails and calls from people around the world asking if there is a teacher in their area. There remains a high demand for Yahweh Yoga teachers. We need more Christian yoga instructors world-wide. And if you fit the criteria below, we want you. Believers in Jesus Christ from all denominations of Christ-based religions attend our trainings. Our spiritual focus is on your individual relationship with Christ, not your church affiliation.

Our graduates experience great success in their communities as they focus on spreading the Word of God through teaching Yahweh Yoga style classes throughout the United States as well as in Canada, Europe, Asia and anywhere else God leads them to teach. They teach and minister in a variety of venues including at churches, studios, YMCA’s, community centers, gyms, or as personal trainers. Some have opened their own studios. You could be the next YY trained teacher to enjoy one of these opportunities.

7. Will Yahweh Yoga provide the community and fellowship I will need? We’re glad you asked! We genuinely enjoy watching our students and new teachers develop love and respect for one another. Echoing the sentiments of many Yahweh Yoga trained teachers, Melissa says, “I’m a spiritually-richer person because of the life-long friends I’ve made.”
We launched a Yahweh Yoga Graduate Facebook page so that our graduates can support and inspire one another. Through the ongoing friendships and professional associations nurtured on this Facebook group page, we:

  • Share fellowship,
  • Discuss Scripture,
  • Exchange ideas about music and classes,
  • Discuss health, marketing and business development,
  • Share tips on how to help students, and
  • Pray for one another.

Now we have a question for YOU: What are you waiting for? Yahweh Yoga Training Academy is for you:

  • If you’re ready for an exciting journey of personal transformation.
  • If you’re longing for a more intimate relationship with God.
  • If you wish to deepen your own yoga practice.
  • If you desire to improve your health and help others do the same.
  • If you are ready to serve.
  • If you yearn to make a difference in the world in a way you never believed possible.
  • If you’re committed to the ministry of sharing the Word of God through teaching yoga classes in today’s modern world.
  • If you’re ready for a new career.

Go for it with Yahweh Yoga!

This could be a defining moment in your beautiful life!
