From Wall Street to Christian Yoga
When Sandra Logan-Mayer retired from a 30-year career in Wall Street, she knew that she wanted something fulfilling that would serve the Lord.
God lead Sandi to teach Christian Yoga
Sandi had been practicing yoga on and off and enjoyed it as a way to work out and relax. She began to feel the call that God wanted her to teach Christian Yoga, but still wasn’t sure. One day, she prayed to God to help her find out the path she should take.
Immediately after her prayer, Sandi opened the December 08 issue of Yoga Journal magazine and saw the Yahweh Yoga advertisement that said “Do you love Jesus? Do you love yoga?” Once she realized that the Yahweh Yoga teaching facility was here in the Valley, she began her journey.
Overcoming doubts
At first, Sandi didn’t know what to expect. “I worried that at 53 years old, I would be too old,” she says. “I wondered: ‘Was every teacher trainee 21 years old and a size two?’” Sandra quickly learned that teaching yoga is possible for all ages and ability levels.
Starting out
Sandi graduated from the 22-day face-to-face program in March, 2009 and began teaching in May. She started with a group from her own church, The Church at Sun Valley, and plans to market her services to other churches in the area. On the website for her business, Yoga for the Soul, Sandi says this about practicing Christian Yoga:
“The focus of our practice is Christ-centered, and we believe that Spiritual, Emotional and Physical health in balance is the only way to enjoy total well being.”

Attaining health
Sandi believes that Christian Yoga is an essential part of a robust life because it allows the practitioner to both focus on their health and focus on God at the same time. “Christian Yoga is a daily devotional for me,” she explains. “It is more than just a daily prayer. I get to focus on Jesus for the entire hour I am doing yoga. It absolutely has deepened my relationship with God.”
For Sandi, the best part about her personal yoga practice is that she is reminded to lay her burdens at God’s feet and just relax knowing that He is in control. She shares this message with her students and uses her class time to remind students to stay in The Word.
God works through her
“When my students tell me know much a class meant to them or how much they needed to hear the scripture I chose for the class, I know that I am really just a bystander in the process,” says Sandi. “God chooses what he wants me to do. I’m not doing this on my own!”

Sandi,
My vision was correct, God bless you and keep you in the palm of his hand. I love you always!
Your sister in Christ,
Linda

I enjoyed reading this. I am glad students can benefit from your classes.
This is something I’ve been looking for. I love yoga and it was a big part in my life. but since I become a Christian, I left it aside for 3 months(there was a kind of conflict in my heart) I miss it so much, just didnt know how to make my faith and yoga walk together.
