“If you don’t go all the way with me, through thick and thin, you don’t deserve me. If your first concern is to look after yourself, you’ll never find yourself. But if you forget about yourself and look to me, you’ll find both yourself and me.” Matthew 10:38-39 (The Message)

The more I think about surrendering, the calmer I am as a woman. I find that surrendering does NOT mean to give up because there is effort involved in surrendering, much like there is in an exhale.

We have to be reminded sometimes that it is not always about “me” that HIS plan is perfect and we need to trust in HIM for all things.

Surrender with effort,  my friends. Please comment below to share your thoughts, stories, or issues with surrender.

God is love.

I love this, and I wholeheartedly agree! I find that when I surrender, it is often a release and a relief. . .but it can take me awhile to get there, as a human being. It’s like that story about the guy with the small bag going up the hill, who kept taking on everyone else’s baggage and ended up too tired to make it to the top. He finally said, “It’s too much!” and God said, “I didn’t give you all of that— I only gave you that little bag.” God both is and gives our proper portion, and when we surrender to Him, we are able to do what He has called us to do, because He knows what is just right for us! His yoke is easy, it fits without rubbing or chafing, His burden is light and won’t way me down. As a human woman, though, I sometimes choose to exhaust myself with worry first until I can do nothing BUT give up as my surrender–notice I said choose, I did not say that I HAVE TO exhaust myself first. . .which would have been my first choice of words. The truth is, surrender is a choice, and if we choose it, like Courtney said, it is Not a position of giving up. It is standing firm in Him.
